GIZ is a German agency in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work dedicated to shaping a future worth living around the world. The GIZ Uganda Country Office is looking for a Portfolio Manager to support the Country Director in managing and developing the portfolio in Uganda. Uganda faces various challenges in the 21st century to provide its people with a social, economic, and sustainable livelihood that meets international standards. Uganda receives support from various international development partners, including the Federal Republic of Germany. The bilateral negotiations between Uganda and Germany determined the following core areas of cooperation:
Peace and inclusive societies: Here the focus is on good governance as well as the issues of displacement and migration.

Transformation of agricultural and food systems: Particular attention is paid to rural development and agriculture.
Climate and energy: the goal is a just transition with a focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as climate adaptation measures and climate resilience partnerships.

GIZ is recruiting a Portfolio Manager to support in the implementation of its Programme.

Key Responsibilities
The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for:
• Advice and quality assurance on cross-cutting topics in GIZ programming.
• Support to ensuring coherence and quality of GIZ service provision.

Other Duties/Additional Tasks
Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.
• Support in the management of integrated programming and integration of the cooperation instruments into ongoing projects and regional planning.

• Creation of synergies, identification of opportunities and ensuring Qualifications coherence in the planning process.
• Knowledge management.

The Portfolio Manager performs the following tasks:
Specific Tasks
• Corresponding with GIZ HQ, particularly the regional department. Responsibility for the use of synergies and identification of opportunities between the cooperation instruments and intervention areas.
• Supporting GIZ's relationship management with other agencies and embassies.

Required Qualifications, Competences, and Experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Economic, Political or Social Sciences.

Professional Experience
• 4 years' professional experience in comparable position, preferably in Germany and/or in an international context is desired.
• Knowledge management support. Updating of overviews, project. Must have both, spoken and written advanced knowledge of lists and the Management Information System.
• German and English.
• A good knowledge of GIZ's various instruments and programmes is essential.
• Excellent working knowledge of ICT technologies.
• Networking, negotiation and presentation skills with international and local partners.
