JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
The Plant Operator II Maintenance (Electrical) is responsible for performing routine and emergency electrical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks to ensure the smooth operation of plant equipment and infrastructure. This role ensures electrical systems are functional, safe, and compliant with relevant standards.
Key Functions
1. Electrical Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including motors, wiring, panels, and lighting systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults in plant equipment and infrastructure. Repair and replace faulty electrical components, ensuring minimal downtime and operational disruptions.
2. Installation of Electrical Systems: Assist in the installation of new electrical systems, including cables, switchgear, lighting, and outlets. Support equipment commissioning by ensuring proper electrical connections and functionality. Install electrical safety devices such as circuit breakers and surge protectors.
3. Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance of electrical systems to identify and address potential hazards or issues. Perform inspections on electrical panels, circuits, and wiring for wear and compliance with safety standards. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and report findings to the supervisor.
4. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines when handling electrical systems and equipment. Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes, regulations, and company policies. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and tools to minimize risk.
5. Equipment Operation and Monitoring: Operate plant equipment requiring electrical input to test functionality and verify repairs. Monitor electrical systems for abnormal behavior, such as voltage fluctuations or overheating.
6. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with mechanical, civil, and production teams to ensure equipment reliability. Provide technical support to other departments requiring electrical maintenance expertise. Assist contractors and external technicians with plant-related electrical projects.
7. Material Management: Safeguard electrical tools, equipment, and materials during maintenance activities. Assist in maintaining inventory for electrical components and materials, reporting shortages or damage.
8. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare daily and weekly maintenance reports, including tasks completed and materials used. Report incidents, equipment malfunctions, or unsafe conditions to the supervisor for action.
9. Additional Responsibilities: Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate superior.
Education Background
1. Certificate Level II in Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Experience
1. At least two (2) years of experience in electrical maintenance or installation in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Skills
• Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical systems and components
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, standards, and regulations
• Hands-on experience with power tools, testing equipment, and electrical components
• Basic computer knowledge
Preferred Skills
1. Familiarity with industrial electrical systems, including motors, transformers, and control panels.
2. Experience working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and automated systems.
3. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
4. Ability to prioritize tasks and work under minimal supervision
