Role Overview:
The Plant Operator operates and maintains heavy machinery used in district works projects, such as road construction and maintenance, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy machinery, such as graders, bulldozers, or rollers, for road construction and maintenance.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment to ensure functionality.
- Adhere to safety protocols during the operation of machinery.
- Keep records of equipment usage, maintenance, and fuel consumption.
- Report mechanical faults to supervisors for timely repairs.
- Support infrastructure projects, including grading roads and clearing drainage systems.
- Assist in training other staff on the safe use of equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English.
- A valid operator’s license for heavy machinery (e.g., Class G or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of experience operating heavy machinery in a public or private sector setting.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor repairs and maintenance.
Competencies:
- Equipment operation and maintenance.
- Safety awareness and adherence to protocols.
- Record-keeping and reporting.
- Teamwork and reliability.
