Job Title:  People and Culture Manager

Luigi Giussani Foundation is an indigenous for impact organisation that has for the last 17 years been responding to educational challenges in Uganda through research and capacity building at all levels of education.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of program staff, ensuring a transparent and merit-based process.
  • Manage employee contracts, benefits, and compensation structures in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Support career development and succession planning for key roles within the program.
  • Establish and oversee a robust performance management system, including goal setting, appraisals, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Design and implement staff capacity-building initiatives, including training programs and leadership development.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and professional growth among staff
  • Address performance-related challenges and support managers in handling employee relations matters
  • Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to enhance motivation, productivity, and retention
  • Support initiatives that enhance teamwork, innovation, and staff satisfaction within the program
  • Ensure adherence to HR legal requirements, organizational policies, and ethical labour practices
  • Conduct regular HR audits to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data security and compliance

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
  • A master’s degree would be an added advantage
  • At least (6) six years of progressive experience in HR management, preferably within the development sector
  • Strong knowledge of Uganda’s labour laws, HR policies, and best practices
  • Experience in recruitment, performance management, and employee relations
  • Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that promote inclusion, diversity, and staff well-being
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
