Job Summary

Manage and operate the bakery section efficiently, working collaboratively with kitchen staff and effectively managing baking schedules and production timelines. Responsibilities include creating, testing, and refining recipes for various pastries and desserts, maintaining consistent quality and presentation. Key tasks involve preparing a wide variety of baked goods, ensuring a hygienic working environment, maintaining baking equipment, and adhering to safety and health regulations. Additional duties include managing bakery inventory, supervising and training new staff, meeting with customers for custom orders, troubleshooting recipe issues, and performing physically demanding tasks as required.

Job Description/Requirements

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Operate and manage the bakery section of the kitchen.
  • Effectively communicate with other kitchen staff and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to manage baking schedules and production timelines effectively.
  • Ability to work overtime (whenever the workload necessitates it)
  • Create, test, and refine recipes for pastries, desserts, and other baked goods.
  • Prepare & bake a wide variety of pastries such as cakes, cupcakes, samosas, cookies, donuts, cake pops, cake sticks, etc. by following a set recipe whilst ensuring consistent quality and attractive presentation each time. A strong foundation & mastery in dough preparation's added advantage (Ability to expertly make different types of bread).
  • Maintain a hygienic bakery working environment at all times.
  • Ensure all baking equipment is in good working order and properly maintained.
  • Ensure the bakery adheres to safety and health regulations.
  • Manage the bakery inventory & timely refills.
  • Supervise and train new staff members, including students. (when required)
  • Occasionally meet with customers to discuss custom orders and special requests.
  • Troubleshoot issues with recipes, ingredients, or equipment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

 Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience in a professional kitchen or bakery.
  • A certificate in Pastry Arts, Baking, or Culinary Arts is an added advantage.
  • Strong skills in dough preparation, piping, decoration, and finishing.
  • Ability to follow recipes precisely and maintain consistency.
  • Passion for innovation and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently.
  • Punctual, trustworthy, and a good team player.
