Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client in the telecom sector, we are looking for a competent, skilled and experienced OSP MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN to work in Kampala.
Job Purpose: The OSP Maintenance Supervisor controls the maintenance of the passive network (OSP) as well as its operation and maintenance in operational conditions. He/she implements the operational model with the objective of plan curative and preventive maintenance as well as patrolling under excellent technical conditions. He/She ensures compliance with the deployment schedule of the fibre optic telecommunications network and ensures, in coordination with its internal operational teams, other departments and service providers, that the company’s FTTH network is implemented with the technical and quality level to achieve operating and growth objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Coordination of OSP Network Construction
• Participate in pre-project studies and ensure compliance with construction schedules.
• Supervise site organization, quality of operations, and feedback to design teams.
Monitoring and Maintenance Management
• Monitor the OSP network in coordination with NOC, ISP, Call Center, and Sales.
• Plan and oversee preventive and curative maintenance, ensuring SLA and KPI compliance.
Safety Compliance
• Ensure adherence to safety rules, PPE usage, and proper training of staff.
• Suspend work and escalate issues for non-compliance, aiming for zero accidents.
Reporting and Risk Management
• Provide daily updates on project status, SLA compliance, and risk identification.
• Perform root cause analysis (REX) to improve processes and SLA performance.
Coordination with Electricity and Infrastructure Partners
• Conduct technical visits and facilitate cooperation with UMEME, UEDCL, and private infrastructure owners.
• Participate in monitoring committees and site meetings as required.
Sales and Field Data Feedback
• Report on sales data, equipment stock, and prospects.
• Escalate field challenges and ensure communication flow.
Maintenance Service Management
• Supervise maintenance service providers, network surveillance, and intervention timelines.
• Ensure accurate data feedback to design teams for inventory updates.
Mandatory Requirements:
• Experience + / - 5 years in the supervision or execution of works in the telecommunications sector, infrastructure
• deployment (water, electricity, etc.), built or civil works
• Mastery of technical constraints related to fixed telecommunications networks and fiber optic networks in particular
• Higher education such as Engineering School, diplomat certificate, University or Technical Diploma (specialization in
• Telecommunications, Civil Works, or Electricity)
• Driver's license
• Mastery of IT tools and the office pack
• Fluency in English
