Pic-Ed is seeking a highly organised and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the field implementation of a nationwide digital science and e-learning solution across Ugandan secondary schools.

Job Description:
1. Field Operations Oversight
- Supervise, guide, and support all field teams responsible for on-ground implementation activities such as content roll-out, hardware setup, teacher onboarding, and follow-up visits.
- Create operational frameworks, deployment calendars, and school engagement plans to streamline delivery across all project districts.
2. Logistics and Coordination
- Plan and manage the logistical execution of field activities, including transport, schedules, school visit plans, and delivery of digital learning materials.
- Ensure that all materials (digital and physical) reach the schools on time, and report on any delays or challenges promptly.
3. Team Management
- Recruit, train, and oversee a network of field staff, ensuring they understand project requirements and maintain high standards of performance and professionalism.
- Conduct regular debriefs, issue operational instructions, and monitor team performance through field reporting tools and dashboards.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with district education officers, school heads, and ICT coordinators to schedule and facilitate school visits, trainings, and support activities.
- Represent Pic-Ed during regional implementation meetings and provide real-time field updates to the management team.
5. Strategic Planning & Input
- Contribute to the development of operational strategies for scaling e-learning deployment effectively across schools.
- Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies in roll-out and propose practical improvements for sustainability and scalability.
6. Reporting and Documentation
- Compile weekly and monthly field reports summarising activities completed, challenges faced, number of schools covered, feedback received, and any incidents requiring escalation.
- Track and report progress on deployment KPIs and support the M&E team with school-level data as needed.
7. Quality Control and Problem Resolution
- Monitor the quality of implementation activities, including adherence to content usage protocols, proper installation, and user satisfaction.
- Address field-level issues swiftly and escalate critical concerns to the Project Manager.
8. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all field activities comply with health, safety, child protection, and data privacy standards.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments of deployment zones and support mitigation planning.
Desired Candidate Profile/ Required Experience & Qualifications:
1. Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, ICT, Project Management, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management, Marketing, or Educational Technology are an added advantage.
2. Professional Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations or project coordination roles, preferably in e-learning or digital education programs.
- Proven experience managing field teams and school-level deployments across multiple districts or regions.
- Experience with e-learning deployments in Ugandan secondary schools is highly desirable.
3. Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team coordination abilities.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and logistics management skills.
- Familiarity with digital education tools, content management, and ICT support frameworks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in engaging school-level stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Google Workspace, and project management software (e.g., Trello, Asana, or MS Project).
