JOB DETAILS:
Warc Africa is seeking a proactive and energetic Operations Manager to lead and establish our operational foundation in Uganda. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, and working alongside our Head of Aggregation, this role will be instrumental in the startup phase, overseeing logistics, supply chain, and technical and maintenance functions. The Operations Manager will build their team, manage multiple priorities, and ensure Warc’s operations align with the company’s commitment to solving farmer challenges at the first mile. This is a dynamic and hands-on role that requires independence, adaptability, and strong networks in Uganda’s relevant industries. The Operations Manager will be based in Kampala, with frequent travel and extended stays in farming communities across central, western and northern Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Setup and Management
- Establish and manage operational processes for Warc’s Trading Hubs in Uganda
- Oversee logistics, supply chain, and maintenance during the business's startup phase, ensuring efficient and effective operations
- Team Building and Leadership
- Train and lead a team to support logistics, supply chain, and maintenance functions
- Foster a team culture that reflects Warc Africa’s values of innovation, transparency, and farmer empowerment
- Logistics and Supply Chain
- Develop and manage logistics plans to ensure timely movement of goods between Trading Hubs and buyers
- Build and maintain relationships with transport providers, ensuring cost-effective and reliable logistics solutions
- Monitor inventory levels and manage the supply chain to optimize efficiency and minimize waste
- Technical and Maintenance Oversight
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and repair of operational infrastructure, including Trading Hubs and their assets and vehicles including motorbikes and cars.
- Implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure operational continuity
- Work closely with technical teams and vendors to address any infrastructure challenges
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and leverage strong networks in Uganda’s agribusiness, logistics, and supply chain industries
- Collaborate with government agencies, local leaders, and community members to facilitate smooth operations and build trust
- Operational Efficiency and Problem-Solving
- Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks.
- Develop and implement solutions to operational challenges, ensuring Warc’s services meet farmer and buyer needs.
- Support Growth and Expansion
- Contribute to the scaling of operations, including the establishment of additional Trading Hubs and operational sites
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on on-the-ground realities and operational data

- Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Experience: 5-8 years in operations, logistics, or supply chain management, with a track record of success in startup or growth-oriented environments.
- Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a structured approach to managing diverse responsibilities of Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to build and inspire teams o Practical problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering results in resource limited settings
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Uganda’s agribusiness and rural community dynamics is highly desirable
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in agribusiness or related industries in Uganda or Sub-Saharan Africa
