Job Summary:   Our client, a leading company in the food processing industry renowned for producing high-quality cold cuts and fresh meat, is seeking a meticulous and highly motivated Operations Manager. This pivotal role will support the production team in ensuring smooth and efficient operations that align with industry standards and company objectives. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, effectively managing resources, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

 

Job role: Achieves food processing targets by clearly communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring progress, and appraising results. The Operations Manager will provide coaching and counselling while maintaining teamwork and unity across the production team. The goal is to ensure that production processes yield high-quality products in a profitable manner.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Liaise with the Business analytics team to produce a monthly production forecast based on key channel’s needs. (Distributors/Key accounts, Butcher shops, Horeca/VVIP).
    • Direct and co-ordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods.
    • Enforce safety and sanitation procedures and regulations in the workplace.
    • Develop the work schedules and duty roster to ensure maximum production outputs and efficiency.
    • Production planning to ensure use of energy efficient work schedules and duty rotas
    • Plan and establish work schedules and assignments and production sequences to meet production goals.
    • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
    • Coordinate new product evaluation and testing.
    • Work closely with quality assurance manager to ensure food safety standards are maintained throughout the production cycle and process.
    • Conflict resolution and maintaining of team engagement in the production environment.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Must have a higher diploma or equivalent bachelor’s degree of science in food science and technology with a bias in food production.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office and SAP.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, experience in food production would have an added advantage.
