JOB DETAILS:
Provide support to the manufacturing team, administration team, external service providers, contractors, foremen, staff, etc. In the coordination of the implementation of the day-to-day HSE requirements including but not limited to inspections, surveys, audits, evaluations and safety training and induction.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead HSE audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Monitor health, safety, and environmental risks across all operations, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards (including NEMA and the National Environment Act, 2019).
- Develop, review, and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Design and implement induction, technical training, and safety awareness programs.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and conduct toolbox meetings, drills, and committee sessions.
- Develop and implement health, safety and environment (HSE) strategies and action plans that define and ensure EAMVL’s commitment to a proactive HSE culture.
- Analyze incident data, draft HSE reports (weekly/monthly/annual), and implement improvement plans.
- Lead IMS/OSH systems compliance and provide insight to management through accurate reporting.
- Manage hazardous materials handling, signage, permits, and waste disposal.
- Liaise with vendors and external auditors to ensure adherence to environmental safety regulations.
- Recruit, train, and mentor departmental safety representatives.
- Facilitate coordination and communication of HSE initiatives across all business units.
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and keeping up to date with regulations and legislation.
- Promote continual improvement, together with the efficiency and effectiveness of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Ensuring sufficient quality PPE stock for all staff at the premises and issuance of PPE, monitoring compliance in the different sections.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Science, Engineering or related field.
- Certificate in Occupational Safety Health Security and Environment certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering.
- Minimum 3 Years Health and Safety field experience from a manufacturing industry
- Minimum 3 Years of Supervisory Experience
- Knowledge of numerous established safety and occupational health principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues as they relate to HSE
- Knowledge of standard training techniques, methods, and materials sufficient to prepare and present formal training and instruction sessions
