Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Assistant will play a key role in supporting data collection, entry, verification, and reporting to ensure accuracy and accountability in project performance tracking. The position will support the implementation of LWF’s digital data management systems particularly the transition to Activity Info as the core Management Information System (MIS) to improve data quality, real-time reporting, and evidence-based decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Project Implementation.
Support Project Assistants to design, develope, and use of monitoring tools for effective data collection, analysis, and reporting on project indicators.
Participate in the training of field staff on digital data collection tools and indicator tracking in line with project objectives.
Conduct beneficiary verification exercises to ensure alignment with project selection criteria and identify inconsistencies in targeting processes.
Project Planning.
Participate in planning and review meetings to assess progress, share best practices, and ensure integration of M&E priorities into project implementation.
Support in the preparation and timely submission of realistic and evidence-based project work plans.
Staff Management and Supervision.
Support the determination of team structure and composition for effective monitoring operations in line with LWF standards.
Supervise data clerks and casual laborers, promoting teamwork, accountability, and quality assurance.
Train and oversee research assistants and enumerators in data collection, entry, and verification for consistency and reliability.
Contribute to performance appraisal processes by setting clear and measurable objectives for M&E field support teams.
Financial Management and Budget Monitoring.
Assist the M&E Officer in developing and monitoring the M&E departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective implementation of data activities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting.
Strengthen and maintain the project M&E system in alignment with LWF’s digital transformation agenda.
Support the use and continuous improvement of Activity Info as LWF’s central data management and reporting platform, ensuring all project data is accurately entered, updated, and analyzed.
Ensure data collection and management through digital platforms such as Activity info, Kobo Collect, ODK, for improved efficiency and real-time monitoring.
Utilize ArcGIS and other mapping tools to support spatial data analysis and visualization of project results.
Prepare bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports, summarizing progress and achievements.
Conduct data verification, consistency checks, and quality assurance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all records.
Maintain and update M&E databases, indicator tracking tables, and dashboards for timely data sharing and decision support.
Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned from program implementation.
Support data analysis and presentation to measure project outcomes and inform adaptive programming.
Submit monthly M&E progress reports to the M&E Officer.
Other Responsibilities
Undertake any other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the supervisor to support the achievement of LWF’s M&E objectives.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Demography, or a related field.
Additional training or certification in Monitoring and Evaluation, data management, or biostatistics is an added advantage.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in M&E for humanitarian or development projects, with demonstrated experience in digital data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in digital data collection and analysis software, including:
Activity Info (for data management and reporting)
Kobo Collect / ODK / SurveyCTO (for field data collection)
ArcGIS / QGIS (for geospatial mapping and analysis)
Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI (for data cleaning, visualization, and dashboard creation)
SPSS / STATA / R (for statistical analysis)
Strong understanding of database management and data visualization techniques.
Experience in developing and maintaining M&E dashboards and indicator tracking systems.
