JOB DETAILS:
Location: Uganda
The MNH Specialist will ensure the delivery of effective and efficient Maternal and Newborn Health services in the unit and at lower health centers. This includes planning, implementing, and supervising MNH services while adhering to national healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination
1. Develop and manage plans and budgets for MNH service delivery.
2. Provide technical guidance and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MNH services.
3. Participate in resource procurement and management, ensuring proper allocation and accountability.

Clinical Service Delivery
4. Diagnose and treat patients, including initiating investigations and performing specialized procedures in MNH.
5. Perform obstetric and gynecological surgeries as required.
6. Conduct ward rounds, supervise patient care, and coordinate MNH referrals.
7. Be on-call for consultation and emergency cases.
Supervision and Mentorship
8. Teach, mentor, and supervise medical officers, nurses, and midwives to ensure optimal patient care.
9. Conduct staff performance appraisals and support HRM functions.
10. Coordinate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs for MNH staff.
Monitoring and Reporting
11. Ensure proper record-keeping of patient statistics, including admissions, discharges, and complications.
12. Utilize the DHIS2 national database and share relevant reports with stakeholders.

13. Actively participate in medical audits (e.g., MPDSR) and ensure recommendations are implemented.
Compliance and Standards
14. Enforce adherence to national health service delivery standards and Uganda's Minimum Health Care Package.
15. Oversee occupational health and safety in the workplace.
16. Maintain equipment used for MNH services.

Stakeholder Engagement
17. Provide technical support and supervision to lower health centers.
18. Collaborate with other teams to ensure alignment with national healthcare goals.

Person Specifications
Qualifications
• Must possess an MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) and MMED (Obs&Gyn) from a recognized university.
• Must be registered and licensed with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
Competencies
• Technical: Planning, organizing, project management, accountability, and report writing.
• Behavioral: Concern for quality, ethics and integrity, teamwork, and leadership.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, time management, and interpersonal abilities.
