JOB DETAILS:

General Summary

The Project Officer – Medical Countermeasures (MCM) will support the implementation of activities related to the development, deployment, and monitoring of medical countermeasures in Uganda. Working closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH), development partners, and other stakeholders, the Project Officer will assist in coordinating project activities, supporting regulatory and pharmacovigilance processes, and ensuring effective documentation and reporting.

Technical Support:

    1. Assist in the coordination and implementation of MCM activities, including preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
    2. Support the development and rollout of pharmacovigilance and drug safety surveillance systems during MCM deployment.
    3. Contribute to the development of guidelines, SOPs, and training materials for the use of novel diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics.
    4. Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to MCM development, deployment and safety monitoring.
    5. Support the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned and best practices.

Project Coordination:

  1. Coordinate with Ministry of Health departments, regional health teams, and implementing partners to ensure smooth execution of MCM activities.
  2. Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, including pharmacovigilance, public health emergency coordination engagements and immunization coordination forums.
  3. Track project deliverables and timelines, ensuring alignment with the approved work plan.
  4. Support the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and donor updates.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  1. Liaise with national and regional stakeholders to facilitate information sharing and collaboration.
  2. Represent the project in technical working groups and coordination meetings as delegated.
  3. Support regional implementation of MCM activities in collaboration with MoH, International development and regional partners including CDC Comprehensive HIV Care PEPFAR partners, WHO, GAVI, CEPI, Africa CDC etc.

Academic Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. A Master’s degree (Advanced Biomedical Science or implementational Science degree) is an added advantage.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy. A Master’s degree (Advanced Biomedical Science or implementational Science degree) is an added advantage.
    • At least 3 years of experience in public health program implementation, preferably in emergency preparedness response or EPI or clinical trial coordination or pharmaceutical regulation.
    • Familiarity with Uganda’s health system, MoH structures, and regulatory environment.
    • Experience working with international donors and development partners is desirable.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
