POSITION: MECHANICS (2) (Full time)

Brief Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnoses and repairs vehicles accurately and within a reasonable time frame and with a quality of work that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Performs diagnostic work accurately according to daily work orders as received from any manager including: emission control systems; throttle body injection; electrical problems on computerized vehicles; conditions between computer, ignition, and mechanical problems; anti-lock brake systems; cruise control; all non-computerized accessories; drivability problems; on-board computer problems; import fuel injection; import ignition on computerized vehicles; auto transmissions; computerized A/C systems; and four wheel drive internal components.
  • Knows, understands, and performs all duties of the Repair Technician and Maintenance Technician jobs.
  • Observes and follows all necessary safety regulations when operating machinery, equipment and tools.
  • Perform work of other members of the service department if business necessitates.
  • Perform any other duties either necessary for customer service or perceived by or assigned to the job.
  • Ensure vehicle is protected by using protective coverings during repairs or service using Seat covers, Steering wheel cover (if available), Floor mats, for work inside the engine compartment: Wing protector/ front protector and all removed parts must be protected.
  • Ensure Technicians are clocking “on” and “off” for each repair job on the correct line.
  • Record all the specifications for the repair and documented the steps taken on Repair Order (Such as Completion of VTA report)
  • Use all workshop manuals, available electronic resources and proper repair procedures to complete repairs
  • Document any additional maintenance and repairs needed and advise the Service Consultant / Shop Foreman.
  • Retain old parts for customer inspection, if requested.
  • Notify the Service Consultant promptly if the repair is delayed and the completion time cannot be met.
  • Park the completed vehicle in the designated vehicle parking area and note the location on the Repair Order.
  • Close the VTA ticket, if applicable, once the vehicle repair has been completed.
  • Restore the customer’s setting in the vehicle (radio presets, seat, mirror, air conditioning).

Qualifications, skills and Experience:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Automotive Engineering.
  • At least five (3) years’ experience as an automotive garage in a reputable organization.
  • Must be at least 28 years and above.
  • Must be fast-paced and with an excellent communication skill.
  • Nationals within the East African Community preferred.
  • Must know how to operate a computerized dealer diagnostics tool
  • Must be well versed with wiring diagrams.
  • Must have the zeal to research and willing to better themselves everyday
  • Must be persistent in the mechanical field in order to achieve desirable results
