About the Company:

Centenary Bank is a leading Commercial Microfinance Bank serving over a third of the banking population with services that can be accessed across 80 branches, 191 ATMs and over 5,200 CenteAgents and other digital platforms.

 

Job Summary:   Responsible for the strategy and implementation of the Bank’s Sustainability and Corporate Affairs agenda to enhance the Bank’s reputation and stakeholder management.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draw out the Banks sustainability and ESG agenda, execute, monitor, and evaluate the activity plan performance in line with approved Bank strategy, objectives, policies, and budget.
  • Play a lead role in ESG and sustainability reporting of key frameworks and regulations to partners namely Central Bank, Uganda Bankers Association, Global Alliance for Banking on Values, to mention but a few and lead the annual report writing as per agreed framework alongside Centenary Group.
  • Manage relationships of the Bank’s key ESG partners and stakeholders, and garner funds with partners and stakeholders for the growth of ESG activities in line with Bank policy.
  • Manage CSR and philanthropy activities for church, branch communities, mission critical and other customer segments in line with strategy, policies, and budget.
  • Evaluate and enhance the Bank’s performance in areas related to sustainability, environmental impact, social responsibility, and governance practices.
  • Conduct research and analysis of the Bank’s ESG practices and assess material ESG risks and opportunities in investment portfolios.
  • Collaborate with Business and investment teams to integrate ESG considerations into investment decision-making processes.
  • Support the Communication and Public Relations function of the Bank, manage bank events and media relations associated with ESG and sustainability events and Promote the ESG activities of the Bank’s internal, public, and digital media.
  • Responsible for visibility of the banks ESG and Sustainability initiatives internal and external for strong reputation.
  • Responsible for minimizing costs and maximizing value through monitoring the ESG budget.
  • Responsible for ESG partner and project due diligence to ensure viability of business.
  • Responsible for annual report ESG impact reporting and division reports to management and Board.
  • Responsible for ESG training of staff in liaison with HR and support promotion of ESG green solutions and products to increase visibility of the products in liaison with marketing

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, Social Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, or other relevant field from a recognized University
  • Masters’ Degree in relevant course in sustainability / Environments / Monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage.
