To facilitate foundational learning for children in Primary 1 to Primary 3 by delivering age- appropriate, competency-based education in literacy, numeracy, and other subjects, while nurturing moral values and a love for learning.

Job Description/Requirements

Location: Mbarara

Reports To: Head Teacher

Job Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and structured lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
  • Use child-friendly methods to teach literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies.
  • Assess and monitor students’ academic progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Maintain detailed records of students’ academic and behavioral progress.
  • Support the holistic development of children by integrating spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth activities.
  • Identify and support learners with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and participate in staff meetings, training, and school events.
  • Engage parents and guardians regularly regarding student progress and school programs.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and uphold school values and policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Grade III Teaching Certificate or Diploma in Primary Education.
  • Registration with the Ministry of Education and Sports is an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in a lower primary setting.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong command of English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to teach reading using phonics and other literacy strategies.
  • Excellent classroom management and child engagement skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
