Job Title:  Locum Finance Assistant – 2 Positions

About Organisation:

Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) emerged from the Mulago – Mbarara Teaching Hospitals Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) which was established in November 2004 under the then Makerere University Faculty of Medicine. Over the last 20 years, we have broadened our work beyond the support of provision of comprehensive HIV and TB services to include capacity strengthening for health care workers across Uganda and conduct research to inform policies for HIV/TB and other HIV comorbidities in the country.

Job Summary: Support the daily administrative running of the CHEWs training.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Monitor daily registration and attendance of the trainees.
    • Prepare payments for both trainers and trainees.
    • Ensure service providers deliver quality services within the required time.
    • Ensure compliance to MJAP finance policies and procedures.
    • Liaise with the District Linkage Coordinators to ensure availability of the required training materials.
    • Prepare a monthly report.
    • Work closely with the program team to ensure that all the necessary support documentation and information is obtained for direct payment of various MOH officers, Local Government Officers, and the CHEWs.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in accounting or related qualifications.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in managing meetings and training
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Financial, Anti- Fraud, Safeguarding and Risk Management Clause:

In your role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial integrity and supporting effective safeguarding and risk management practices. Key responsibilities include.
  • Financial Accountability: Uphold MJAP’s commitment to financial integrity by effectively managing resources and accurate reporting of expenditures. Ensure responsible and transparent resource management in compliance with organizational standards and donor requirements and take ownership of any discrepancies that arise.
  • Safeguarding: Uphold the organization’s dedication to protecting vulnerable populations, including beneficiaries, staff, and volunteers. This includes identifying, reporting, and addressing safeguarding issues per established policies. Your role is essential in fostering a safe and supportive environment for everyone involved in our programs.
  • Risk Management: Actively identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to program implementation and operations. Collaborate with teams to create and maintain risk management plans in line with organizational policies. Regularly review and update practices to address new challenges or changes in the operational environment.
