Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Credit Risk
- Perform independent portfolio level analysis and stress tests on exposures ≥ single obligor limit, large exposures (as defined by Bank of Uganda), risk ratings and various credit concentrations.
- Monitor total credit risk exposure to be within the capital requirement with focus on management of non-performing loans, loan loss and provisioning.
- Independently validate credit quality through checking credit classification, non-performing loans, specific provisions, interest in suspense and stress testing.
- Ensure the credit manual and policies are in line with the Group Credit Manual and Policies and the regulatory requirements of Uganda.
- Undertake analysis of documenting the actual default statistics (Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, and Exposure at Default) experienced with a view to confirming the risk ranking capabilities and calibration of the credit risk rating framework
- To develop and implement stress testing framework by defining stress scenarios and sensitivity analysis and indicating recommendations to mitigate risks that might arise from adverse scenarios and Maintain credit risk models and risk estimates that will be used by business units in day-to-day decision making.
- Evaluate and review credit risk decision models and associated procedures to ensure credit risk decision tools used are powerful and appropriately discriminate risk.
- Report incidences of violations of policies and track all exceptions for reporting to management, Group Risk and Board Risk Committee.
- Ensure credit risk reporting requirements are aligned to Group Lending reports.
- Ensure all limits and ratios approved internally and/or regulatory are observed, and report any breaches to Management, Group Risk and Board Risk.
Market Risk
- Conduct liquidity risk analysis, stress tests and monitor compliance with all regulatory liquidity ratios.
- Conduct interest rate risk analysis, sensitivity analysis and stress tests in consultation with the Head of Risk and Treasury.
- Conduct foreign currency risk analysis, net open positions, foreign exchange exposure limits, and monitor Dealers’ limits, Counterparty limits, and other internal limits to report breaches.
- Develop and review asset and liability management policies and procedures and market risk manuals to ensure they are in place and remain valid.
- Ensure all exceptions including rationale for the exception is documented/ maintained and must carry expiration or review date.
- Review and report all market risk exceptions, ensure exceptions are properly documented/ maintained with relevant approval and carry expiration or review date.
- Monitor to ensure all deals beyond dealer limits are approved by appropriate authority.
- Provide recommendations in the form of possible scenarios to ensure the bank remains liquid by projecting the cash flows and initiating funding actions to avert negative liquidity situations.
- Prepare market risk reports for management (ALCO) and the board.
Daily responsibilities:
Market Risk
- Investigate and report off-market rates transactions.
- Monitor market risk limits and trading limits.
Credit Risk
- To monitor the bank enterprise-wide risks across portfolio types, quality of loan book and identify specific risk items to be addressed and give recommendations to the Head Risk.
- Monitor total credit risk exposure to be within the capital requirement with focus on management of non-performing loans, loan loss and provisioning.
- To monitor sector concentration and risk appetite limits to ensure compliance with the KCB bank policies and procedures.
- Supporting the Head of Risk in the Management of the conduct of business in the ESG Management Committee of the bank.
ESG Risk
- The Lending & Market Risk Manager will be responsible for owning several key tasks and delivering projects that are presented to senior management and oversight committees, working closely with KCB Group network. This responsibility will require a good awareness of ESG and is keen to develop an in-depth understanding of how to apply these to risk management in a regional financial institution.
- Drafting/reporting ESG and/or operational risk presentations to CMT and Board.
- Drafting ESG related Risk policies and procedures.
- Development and maintenance of an ESG Risk management Framework in alignment to regulatory and KCB Group requirements.
- Dealing with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to understand and monitor ESG related regulations and covenants.
- Development and maintenance of ESG Risk Management tools for the bank to ensure effective implementation of the framework.
- Regular review of Financial and Non-Financial ESG related assessments completed by all stakeholders
- Identifying mitigations of risks, with a focus on ESG related and Reputational risks.
- Development and implementation of the ESG strategy of the bank together with other stakeholder functions
- Drive an ESG culture and mindset across the business and all its stakeholders.
- Coordinate the activities of the ESG Management Committee and ensure effective management of all ESG Secretariat business.
