Job Title : Lecturer – Welding and Metal Fabrication

Reports to : Senior Lecturer - Welding and Metal Fabrication

Duties and Responsibilities

• • Preparing training plans, training notes, timetables, schemes of work and maintain training standards in the institution;
  • Training in the occupations of specialisation to prepare and impart knowledge, skills and attitudes to the trainees;
  • Evaluating the trainees on occupations of specialisation to ensure achievement of training objectives and prepare them for national and other assessments;
  • Ensuring proper care and maintenance of institutional assets;
  • Promoting innovation, creativity and training with production
  • Conducting practical research in an occupational field
  • Embracing teamwork through collaborative planning and training;
  • Serving as a role model and promote trainee discipline;
  • Providing guidance and counselling services to the trainees, to create conducive environment for training and harmonious co-existence;
  • Organising curricular and co-curricular activities;
  • Conducting continuous assessment and evaluation during training
  • Developing schemes of work and lesson plans
  • Acquiring, developing, using appropriate teaching materials and resources.
  • Instruct and monitor each student progress during sessions
  • Assessing and evaluating the trainees during training and industrial attachment;
  • Ensuring safety, health and security of trainees, environment and institutional assets;
  • Participating in supervision of institutional and national assessments; and
  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Work Experience

• An Honors Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing and Production or its Equivalent.
• Post graduate qualification in any of the above or, Technical instruction qualification or International qualifications (such as OPITO, CITY & GUILDS) is an added advantage.
• At least two (2) years of work experience in the relevant field.

Required competencies

• Knowledge, skills and competences of Curriculum content in the occupation;
• Knowledge of TVET Operating Procedures and Standards
• Evaluation and Assessment;
• Mentorship, Coaching and Guidance and counselling, Andragogy, ICT, Communication and interpersonal, Record keeping, Analytical, Stakeholder Management, Negotiation and Report Writing Skills.
