Job Title : Lecturer – Downstream Petroleum Operations

Reports to : Senior Lecturer - Downstream Petroleum Operations
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing training plans, training notes, timetables, schemes of work and maintain training standards in the institution;
- Training and instructing Trainees in the occupations of specialization to prepare imparting them with relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes for national and other assessments;
- Assessing and evaluating students’ performance during training and industrial attachment to ensure achievement of training objectives and prepare them for national and other assessments.
- Identifying appropriate teaching/training methods to meet each student’s learning needs.
- Assessing each student’s performance at the end of each training session using formative and summative assessment.
- Implementing Quality Assurance measures like the Portfolio & CAMERA schemes.
- Providing timely feedback to students and other stakeholders on results of trainings undertaken.
- Maintaining accurate and complete records of each student’s progress.
- Promoting innovation, creativity and training with production and conducting practical research in an occupational field
- Ensuring proper care and maintenance of institutional assets;
- Providing guidance and counselling services to the trainees;
- Organizing curricular and co-curricular activities;
- Ensuring safety, health and security of trainees, environment and institutional assets;
- Participating in supervision of institutional and national assessments;
- Performing any other duty as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Work Experience
- An Honors Bachelor's Degree in either Chemical or Process Engineering, Industrial Chemistry or Natural Resources from a recognized Institution.
- A Post Graduate Qualification in Oil and Gas and /or Training: International Certifications in either City and Guilds, OPITO, ECITB and NEBOSH is an added advantage.
- At least two (2) years of relevant work experience, in Oil and Gas industry.
Required competencies
- Knowledge, skills and competences of Curriculum content in the occupation;
- Knowledge of TVET Operating Procedures and Standards
- Evaluation and Assessment;
- Mentorship, Coaching and Guidance and counselling, Andragogy, ICT, Communication and interpersonal, Record keeping, Analytical, Stakeholder Management, Negotiation and Report Writing Skills.
