Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Draft and review construction contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan construction laws and regulations.
- Represent the company in legal disputes and negotiations.
- Provide legal advice on labor laws, tax regulations, and corporate governance.
- Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Conduct risk assessments and advise on legal strategies
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) and a valid practicing license
- Minimum of 10+ years of Experience in construction law, contract negotiation, and corporate legal matters.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with knowledge of local laws and regulations.
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Construction Law Expertise: Deep knowledge of legal regulations governing construction projects, contracts, and liability issues.
- Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Ability to draft, review, and negotiate contracts to protect the company’s interests.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of Uganda’s legal framework for permits, environmental laws, and building codes.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Proficiency in handling legal disputes, arbitration, and court procedures related to construction projects.
Additional Skills:
- Corporate Tax & Finance Law: Familiarity with tax regulations, financial structuring, and compliance requirements.
- Risk Management & Legal Advisory: Identifying legal risks and providing guidance on corporate governance and liability.
- Legal Research & Case Analysis: Ability to analyze precedents and conduct in-depth legal research to support decision-making.
- Employment & Labor Law: Expertise in managing employee-related legal issues, including contracts, disputes, and workplace policies.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Knowledge of trademarks, patents, and legal safeguards for construction innovations.
Reporting Structure:
The Tax consultant will report directly to the General manager and collaborate closely with office employees and other members of the company’s team.
