About Organisation:
The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) is a cabinet-level government ministry responsible for managing, securing, and sustaining Uganda’s water resources, environmental assets, and climate-resilience infrastructure. Headquartered along Plot 3-7, Kabalega Crescent / Port Bell Road in Luzira, Kampala, it works closely with agencies like the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
Job Summary: To ensure timely and accurate entry of water quality data into the national water quality database and maintain integrity of the databases
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for routine entry of water quality data onto the database
- Quality assures all data entries into the database
- Follows data entry techniques and procedures to maintain data quality
- Secures data by creating data backups on periodic basis
- Responds to information access and data retrieval requests from authorized personnel
- Assists in developing and maintaining improved records within the National Water Quality Database system
- Produces automated data entry and integration reports
- Generates statistical reports periodically
- Tests new database systems by performing mock data entry tasks
- Provides technical backup support to the databases in Regional Laboratories
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Ordinary Diploma in Science Technology with a bias in Chemistry or Bio-chemistry, Telecommunications or Computer Science.
- A Bachelor of Science and Technology in Chemistry or Information Technology is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years working experience in data entry and management.
- Use of spread sheets and other computer packages, experience in transcribing, Organization, Typing, Data Entry Skills, paying attention to Detail and being able to Analyze Information
