None Positions: Five (5) Duty

station: Kanungu district 3 (Kihiihi HC IV, Kambuga Hospital, Kanungu HC IV), Rukiga 1 (Mparo HC IV) and Rukungiri district 1 at (Kebisoni HIC IV) PROJECT SUMMARY: USAID’s Local Partner Health Services – Kigezi & Lango is a five-year Activity implemented by Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC). The Activity aims to support the continuation of technical assistance for the implementation of a district-based, integrated package of quality HIV/AIDS and TB services to the beneficiary population in the 16 districts and one city in Kigezi & Lango regions. The main goal of the Activity is to increase the availability, accessibility and utilization of quality, integrated HIV and TB services. Additionally, the Activity will temporarily support lifesaving activities in the Ankole and Acholi regions Duties and responsibilities.

• Carry out all laboratory investigations and submit reports as scheduled or whenever needed.

• Prepare standard operating procedures across all tests conducted in the laboratory and ensure continue adherence to the established procedures • Prepare specimens according to established standard operating procedures.

• Support the implementation of Good clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) through establishing safety guidelines, practicing proper waste management, Running Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assurance (EQA), adherence to use of PPE, timely reporting on incidences Follow-up on scheduled running of IQC and participation in all available Proficiency Testing scheme through evidenced IQC material availability, proper documentation in the available different HMIS tools

• Ensure implementation of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (LQMS) through engagement in CQI projects, documenting, monitoring and evaluation of CQI projects in areas where the laboratory may not be doing well so that improvement is realized.

• Ensure routine equipment maintenance through performance of routine maintenance activities as scheduled by the manufacturer. Develop a routine maintenance schedule and ensure adherence and documentation to the developed schedule.

• Maintain an inventory of all the laboratory equipment and offer timely communication on equipment downtime and functionality status for timely decision making.

• Ensure proper laboratory stock/Logistics management through routine updating of stock card: performance of physical counts, taking part in receipt of laboratory supplies and timely reports for items that are near expiry to prevent stock out.

• Ensure timely documentation and trackable archival of laboratory HMIS tools.

Required Qualifications and experience:

• A Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognizable institution.

• Must be registered with Allied Health Professional Council with a valid practicing license.

• At least 2 years’ experience working in a busy laboratory setting

• Basic knowledge of performing quality controls and quality assurance regarding HIV testing. Knowledge of good laboratory practice

- Good written and verbal communication or interpersonal is a must
