Job Summary
The role involves collecting and preparing skin samples for laboratory analysis, conducting routine and specialized lab tests, and analyzing and reporting findings to dermatologists and medical officers. Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory equipment, managing inventory of supplies, and assisting in the preparation and documentation of patient tests. The role also involves educating patients on test procedures, adhering to clinical guidelines for quality control, and following safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe and sterile environment.

Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
• Sample Collection & Preparation: Collect and prepare skin samples (e.g., biopsies, scrapings, swabs) for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper handling and labeling.
• Perform Laboratory Tests: Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests (e.g., microscopic examination, culture tests, sensitivity tests) related to dermatological conditions.
• Analysis & Reporting: Analyze test results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to dermatologists and medical officers in a clear and timely manner.
• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and cleaned according to established protocols.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, ensuring they are properly stored and accounted for.
• Clinical Support: Assist medical staff in the preparation and documentation of patient tests, ensuring that results are integrated into the patient’s medical record.
• Patient Interaction: Provide patient education and instructions related to the preparation for specific tests and procedures (e.g., skin patch testing).
• Quality Control: Adhere to clinical guidelines and best practices to ensure high-quality and accurate laboratory results.
• Compliance: Follow all safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
Qualifications:
• Education: Degree or diploma in Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Experience: Previous experience in a medical or dermatology lab is preferred but not required.
• Skills:
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, especially those related to dermatology.
- Ability to perform accurate and timely lab tests.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions carefully.
