Reports to: Quality and Production manager Start Date: ASAP
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Perform scheduled sampling and testing of products from all Jibu Franchises in collaboration with the technical department
● Expand Jibu Laboratory testing capacities
● Support Root Cause Analysis and taking corrective actions in the event of non-compliance
● Coordinate communication, reporting, and compliance structures between technical department, franchises and UNBS.
● Support plans to achieve full accreditation of Jibu Laboratory
● Assist technical department in anticipating non-compliance issues from franchises based on lab report history.
● Prepare and distribute laboratory reports and metrics to keep the technical department and franchises informed about the performance of Jibu products
This position requires:
▪ high hygiene standards and knowledge of the country and international regulatory requirements
▪ Diligence, focus, and attention to detail
▪ Punctuality, tidiness and accurate record-keeping
▪ Experience in and ability to organize and improve on laboratory practices
▪ Preventive maintenance of lab equipment.
Reporting Line: The position reports directly to the Quality and Production Manager and works closely with Jibu’s Technical Department.
The Lab Technician will be focused on and responsible for overseeing and managing laboratory operations of Jibu in Uganda – to include planning and supporting sampling and testing programs for all Jibu franchises. The expectation is that the technician will quickly identify opportunities within the current operation to make improvements and ensure UNBS compliance of Jibu products. Primary responsibilities will vary and will require hands-on involvement, persistence, long hours, and agility to respond to the challenges and needs that arise day to day in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
● Minimum of a years’ experience working in laboratory context
● Degree / Diploma in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology or related fields
● A team player with a sense of adventure wanting to make a difference
● Personality profile: practical, persistent, likable, resourceful, organized, detail-oriented
● Fluent English language skills
