JOB DETAILS:
Agent Banking Company (ABC) is a Payment System Operator licensed by the Bank of Uganda. We provide financial services platforms and infrastructure to financial service providers, facilitating seamless transactions across Uganda. Our mission is to enhance financial inclusion through shared and interoperable financial services solutions.

Job Summary:
ABC is seeking an IT Support Officer Intern to assist our IT team in providing technical support, maintaining IT systems, and monitoring critical components to ensure optimal performance and security. The intern will gain practical experience in IT support, system monitoring, and network troubleshooting within a dynamic fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor transaction systems and track metrics such as transaction volume, velocity, success/failure rates, exception counts, fraud detection alerts, and application downtime.

• Monitor network performance and track metrics including latency, bandwidth utilization, packet loss, device uptime, CPU and memory utilization, error rates, and Round-Trip
Time.
• Monitor system health to track CPU, memory, and disk utilization, disk I/O, storage capacity, server uptime/availability, load average, swap usage, backup integrity, and database performance metrics.
• Monitor failure controls to track rules performance, database query performance, and failed transaction trends.
• Monitor security events using portals and SIEM tools to track login attempts, user activities, intrusion attempts, malware detection alerts, firewall sessions, IPS alerts, VPN sessions, and DDoS attempts.
2. Technical Support:
• Assist in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
• Support end-users with IT-related concerns and provide timely solutions.
• Maintain IT infrastructure, including computers, printers, and network devices.
3. System Maintenance:
• Assist in software installations, updates, and configurations.
• Support data backup and security measures to ensure system integrity.
4. Documentation:
• Document IT issues, resolutions, and monitoring reports for future reference.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti, FortiGate, Sophos, and SIEM tools is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT support tools.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
