JOB DETAILS:

To oversee and ensure adherence to the IT policy and set controls, while ensuring that operations run as planned by improving reliability of IT equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that the platform of the company’s ERP is at all times up and running so as to minimize downtime.
    • Ensure safety of company information by maintaining a routine for backup of data companywide.
    • Ensure that the firewall and endpoint security are always updated and running effectively on all desktops as per the IT policy.
    • Laisse with external service providers contracted to provide IT support to ensure good quality of work is done.
    • Maintain the company’s email service, ensuring that security is upheld as per the IT policy and responding to user requests and complaints.
    • Setting up (domain, email & ERP) accounts for new users and retiring those for staff that have exited.
    • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
    • Keep up to date with new developments in the external IT environment to capitalize on opportunities and avert threats as may be required.
    • Maintain the company’s LAN and server to minimize downtime due to network related problems.
    • Ensure that the provisions of the IT policy are adhered to by all users.
    • Routinely review and update the IT policy as per changes in the external IT environment.
    • Set up and maintain controls to ensure that the company’s network (LAN) is free from external threats.
    • Laisse with the ISP to ensure the internet quality and bandwidth provided is as per the company’s agreement with them.
    • Maintain an updated register of all IT equipment with relevant details of all the assets item wise.
    • Put in place controls to ensure safety of the company’s IT hardware.
    • Routinely service and maintain the company’s computers and servers.
    • Troubleshoot and correct IT related issues and breakdowns.
    • Providing technical support across the company.
    • Train users of IT equipment on best practice and adherence to the provisions of the IT policy.
    • Maintain a log of Incidents and the steps taken towards resolution. This is to be reported to management on a monthly basis.

Qualifications, Education Required for: 

  • A Degree (or equivalent) in an IT or IT related course, with emphasis on networking and hardware.

Knowledge and Experience

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Computer literacy and a good understanding of MS Office packages
