Job Summary: Source for business fundable projects within the regional market that are aligned with the bank’s strategic objectives and the National Development Plan III.
Manage, supervise and ensure the wellbeing of the regional staff talent within the region and provide adequate support to enable them to deliver on their mandate.

Accountability Statement
The job holder shall establish, develop, manage, and oversee operations at the Regional office and ensure sustainable growth of the bank’s business in the allocated region across the priority sectors. In executing this mandate, the role holder will develop, grow, and profitably sustain investments in the Regional Business office in line with the Bank’s Policies, the Environment & Social Risk Management Framework and the Bank’s strategic focus.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directing and managing all operational aspects such as distribution operations, human resources, customer service, administration, and business aspects of recruitment of enterprises for funding, enterprise support, relationship management, stakeholder engagements etc.
  • Assessing the condition of the local market and identifying current and prospective investment opportunities among the SMEs, Women & Youth Enterprises among others.
  • Making forecasts, business plans, and financial objectives to meet goals and metrics of the Regional Business Office.
  • Overseeing spending plan and allocating funds appropriately at the regional business office.
  • Providing Regional Business Office’s personnel training, development, coaching, business advisory to customers and motivation.
  • Finding key areas of improvement and channelising corrective actions that can meet challenges and optimise growth opportunities for the region.
  • Sharing key details with other RBOs and headquarters on effective practices, business opportunities, competitive intelligence, and needs.
  • Solving all customer and employee satisfaction issues.
  • Following high ethical standards, and complying with all regulations/applicable laws.
  • Making efforts to optimise the presence and reputation of the Regional Business Office and the company.
  • Being aware of competing markets and offering reports on market movement and penetration.
  • Maintaining quality loan book, supporting supervision of projects, recovery & monitoring of loans in the region allocated.
  • Supporting the M&E/E&S requests in the allocated region on requested projects.
  • Developing a suitable policy framework, investment strategies, fundable pipeline building, credit appraisal, relationship management, monitoring and evaluation among others.
  • Supporting and guiding the regional staff regarding execution of the assigned deliverables.
  • Managing stakeholder relations relating to special programs including development partners, donors, government, civil society among others to enhance bank relations.

  • Undertaking continuous market intelligence/survey and providing recommendations on significant developments.
  • Reviewing trends regularly within the assigned region and identifying emerging opportunities, risks and proactively implementing appropriate solutions/mitigants.
  • Undertaking initial investment analysis and appraisal of proposals submitted to the Bank and making recommendations to the respective teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with the bank’s credit risk management policy, Special Programs policies/Procedures, credit procedures manual among others.
  • Conducting regular monitoring of all investments in the portfolio and providing periodic reports for management.
  • Provision of credit risk supervision, including the monitoring of borrower performance, credit risk grading of each loan in the portfolio (at least annually/in accordance with the credit risk management policy) and where appropriate, recommend corrective actions to ensure adherence to credit policy.
  • Conducting regular site visits to ascertain the state of borrowers and determine the appropriate assessment of the credit risk rating.
  • Provision of periodic budget monitoring reports to the Director Investments to guide in decision making with the aim of meeting regional expectations.
  • Representing the bank in all bank’s related activities in the allocated region.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Manage Regional Business Office staff performance & Welfare.
  • Coordinate all bank activities within the RBO coverage.
  • Grow a profitable & sustainable business at assigned RBO.
  • Represent the bank in all bank’s related activities in the allocated region.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A good degree preferably in Business studies/social sciences, Sciences, or any business-related field.
  • A Master’s Degree in the related fields above (Mandatory).
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ACIB, etc.) would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar role in a financial institution or development bank, preferably engaged in long term funding or SME’s financing.
  • Experience in funding and managing SMEs, Women & Youth enterprises from existing to start-up businesses.
  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills and experience in using financial models & credit appraisals among others.
  • Experience in managing regional financial office and upcountry experience/operations.
  • Experience in relationship management, customer service, stakeholder engagements & people management.
  • Experience in business roll out, budgeting/planning, enterprise development & support.
