JOB DETAILS:
Working within the CAN-I Communications team, the responsibilities of the CAN-I Internal Communications Officer include:
- Co-develop and execute an internal communications strategy for the CANI secretariat
- Co-create and design communications content, including email updates, newsletters and presentations for the CAN network
- Co-create, write and design flagship reports for CANI, including the annual report
- Co-create, write and design pitch-decks for fundraising purposes
- Co-create, write and design presentations for internal and external webinars, and clip up key interventions for use on social media
- Create digital promotional content for webinars across the network and for social media
- Create and publish LinkedIn posts for
- Populate and manage the governance and people sections of the CANI website
- Basic capturing and editing of videos and photos at key internal events, particularly the Annual Strategy Meeting, and their timely distribution to the network
- Work with CANI teams to ensure internal communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with goals, values, tone and style
- Work with CANI secretariat team to ensure the CAN logo is being consistently and coherently used for network communications
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of internal communications, and make recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis
- Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure that internal communications are timely and relevant
- Together with the CAN-I Communications team, provide support to address additional needs of the CAN-I Secretariat, such as the design and distribution of the ECO newsletter
Education and professional qualifications:
At least three years’ experience – and no more than five years – in internal communications, with a focus on design and content creation rather than strategy, working in an organisation – not necessarily not-for-profit, or equivalent academic/vocational experience in communications.
- Proven internal communications and design expertise.
- Excellent working knowledge and experience of newsletter writing and of email marketing tools, for example, MailChimp.
- Proficient English writing skills
- Design and photo editing skills, for example, Photoshop, Adobe and Canva for enhancing reports.
- Proven track record of communicating complex, sensitive or technical issues in creative, simple terms.
- Great communication and coordination skills with strong attention to detail.
- Understanding of civil society priorities working in the climate justice movement.
- Basic image capturing and editing skills for videos and photos.
- Basic website uploading experience.
Skills and abilities
- Comfortable and confident in taking initiative, and working independently and proactively.
- Organised and able to work to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in different socio-cultural contexts.
- Experienced in working remotely and using IT tools, as part of a diverse and international team.
- Strong identification with CAN’s values including but not limited to transparency, honesty, inclusiveness, empathy, solidarity and respect.
Language ability
- Fluency in spoken and written English required.
- Any additional language will be an advantage.
IT skills and requirements
- Computer skills: advanced competence in MS Office, Google Suite, and Zoom, and project management tools, e.g. Slack.
- Knowledge of communication tools like Mailchimp, WordPress and social media tools.
- Comfortable editing content – text, video, photo – quickly and on brand.
- Ability to coordinate and/or lead meetings and work plans in a virtual environment.
Travel
- Ability to travel internationally up to 15% of the time, incl. ability and availability to travel for 1-2 weeks, once or twice yearly.
