Summary: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of IT Team Lead- CDC

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: Yes

Duties:  The Information Technology (IT) Team Lead is responsible for Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Uganda’s IT systems and services, including providing expert technical advice on the acquisition of new computer hardware, software, and peripherals and upkeep of the same; building systems architecture; overseeing administration of CDC Uganda’s document management, enterprise applications, Teams, SharePoint sites, and cloud-based environments; ensuring IT security; ensuring compliance with industry and CDC standards; liaising with the Office of the Chief Information Officer at CDC headquarters and the Regional IT Advisor; providing IT training; ensuring internet connectivity for CDC Uganda staff working in Entebbe, the Embassy, or other CDC sites; and troubleshooting connectivity issues for staff teleworking.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education:  Master’s degree in computer science or information technology is required. And either Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MSCE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  Five years of progressively responsible work in the IT field, including management of a LAN or other computer/ technical management experience in a medium/ large organization is required. This must include a minimum of one-year supervisory experience.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Comprehensive knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) design and support methodologies. In-depth knowledge of personal computers, peripherals, and LAN hardware including server, switches, hubs, cabling, patch panels, wireless internet hardware, and various other hardware required for the implementation of network systems is required. Knowledge of enterprise operations software and hardware systems is required.

Good working knowledge of team management techniques to plan, organize, and direct multi-disciplinary project teams, activities, and overall administrative requirements, including budgeting and fiscal management in support of purchase requisitions, contracts. and cooperative agreements.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE:  Fluent Knowledge in English speaking/reading/writing is required. This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Ability to design, implement and maintain network systems independently is required. Good working knowledge of team management techniques to plan, organize, and direct multi-disciplinary project teams and activities and overall administrative requirements, including budgeting and fiscal management in support of contracts and cooperative agreements is required. The ability to lead results-driven project teams and workgroups is required. Intermediate user level of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is required, with standard numerical skills for data analysis. The ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50lbs.   This may be tested.

Qualifications:  All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
