IT Support Specialist Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, effective, and experienced IT Specialist to join our growing team. In this position, you will use your expertise to monitor, and maintain our IT systems. You will focus on specific computer network, database, or systems administration and customer care/support online and onsite near your designated location. Under supervision, you will install, configure, service, repair and maintain information technology systems in both a stand-alone and client-server environment. You will also participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the organization and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, and software systems are fully operational.

IT Support Specialist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss estimate and resolve issues
  • Administer network and data security, including directory, group policy, firewalls, antivirus, email security, etc.
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes of planning, organizing, and scheduling work
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
  • Install and configure wireless networking equipment
  • Create, analyze, report, convert, or transfer data, using specialized applications program software
  • Provide for the implementation, configuration, deployment and support of systems, including, but not limited to client computing devices and servers
  • Provide training to new employees and other training sessions as required

IT Specialist Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Industry certifications (MCSE)
  • 2+ years experience in information technology
  • Preference given to candidates with the following: CASP, CEH, CISSP, GSEC, GCIH, Sec+, Net+, A+, Cloud+, CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCDA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCITP, MTA.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple problems simultaneously
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of hardware technology and concepts

Key Skills for IT Employment

As a minimum requirement to this role, all our IT support specialists should have the following skills:

  • Listening: Because most of our IT support professionals work over the phone, they must be able to listen to resolve a customer's problem actively.
  • Deductive Reasoning: Problem-solving skills are vital for IT specialists to determine the cause of a technological malfunction.
  • Customer Relations: The frustrations that accompany technical troubles require that specialists maintain patience and communication skills when working with a customer.
  • Knowledge: An IT specialist must be knowledgeable about the product and be able to recall details about the technology itself.
  • Confidence: Customers rely on specialists to resolve their IT problems, making confidence an important skill.
  • Teamwork: IT specialists must work well with others because phone support requires the teamwork of both the customer and specialist.
