JOB DETAILS:
Salary Structure: NDU 4

Reports to: Director Human Resource
Purpose of the Job:
The Human Resource Officer shall assist in management of the human resource operations of the
University and provide administrative support to the Director Human Resource.
1. Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:
1. Master’s degree in Human Resource Management; Business Administration (HRM option);
Public Administration & Management; or Organisational Psychology (HRM option) from a
recognized university or institution of higher learning.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Social Sciences or Bachelor’s degree
in Business Administration (HRM option).
3. A minimum of five (5) years of proven working experience in human resource management in a
reputable organisation.
4. Member of a professional human resource management body is an added advantage.
5. Knowledge of HR functions.
6. Understanding of labour laws and disciplinary procedures
7. Proficiency in ICT; knowledge of HRIS is an added advantage.
8. Organisational and time-management abilities.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
11. A mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s Core values and
Philosophy.
12. A person of very good standing within the Church and community.
13. A person with experience in higher education institutions will have an added advantage.
14. Between 28-35 years of age at the time of application.
2. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support the coordination and implementation of the University human resource policies and
procedures.
2. Support the development and implementation of human resource initiatives and systems.
3. Counsel staff on the University human resource policies and procedures.
4. Prepare job descriptions, post job adverts, and manage the recruitment process.
5. Support the coordination of job analysis and evaluation findings and recommend changes in
line with the work procedures, methods and systems in accordance with the University human
resource policies.
6. Develop training and development programmes.
7. Coordinate the orientation and training of new members of staff.
8. Assist with the performance management processes.
9. Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues of staff.
10. Management of human resource records.
11. Management of staff meetings.
12. Assist with management of the staff payroll.
13. Assist with management of staff welfare initiatives.
14. Review employment and working conditions in the University to ensure legal compliance.
15. Counsel staff and resolve any disagreements.
16. Any other duties that shall be assigned by the supervisor.
