Job Summary:
Our client based in Kampala uganda is looking to hire a Human Resource Officer (HRO) to support in the day-to-day HR operations, focusing on employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and administrative duties. The HRO will work to ensure that HR functions run smoothly, contributing to a positive work environment and helping achieve the company’s goals.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
• Employee Relations:
o Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR-related inquiries.
o Support in handling employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary actions in collaboration with management.
o Foster positive employee relations and work culture.
• Recruitment and Onboarding:
o Assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, and coordinating interviews.
o Support the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and filed.
o Conduct orientation sessions for new staff members.
• Payroll and Benefits Administration:
o Assist in the preparation of payroll, ensuring accuracy in timekeeping and processing.
o Handle employee benefits administration, including leave management and statutory deductions.
o Maintain records of attendance, absences, and leave balances.
• HR Compliance and Record Keeping:
o Ensure all employee records are up-to-date and compliant with Ugandan labor laws and company policies.
o Assist in drafting and updating HR policies and procedures.
o Keep track of employee contracts, renewals, and terminations.
• Performance Management:
o Support in the performance appraisal process, including collecting and organizing employee evaluations.
o Assist in implementing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for underperforming employees.
• Training and Development:
o Coordinate employee training programs, including identifying training needs and scheduling sessions.
o Keep records of employee training and certifications.
• HR Reporting:
o Prepare regular HR reports, including headcount, turnover, and other key HR metrics.
o Provide insights and data to support management decisions.
• Administrative Duties:
o Assist with day-to-day office operations, including managing HR-related correspondence and filing.
o Coordinate staff meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
o Manage HR supplies and maintain inventory.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Education: Diploma or degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in an HR role.

Skills:
• Strong understanding of Uganda labor laws and HR best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
