Galaxy International School Uganda and Light Academy Schools are a leading group of schools offering British and UNEB Curriculum. The Head Office of the schools is seeking to fill the post of a Human Resource Manager who is self- motivated; result-oriented and an experienced professional with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Job Description

The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for:

  1. Overseeing and coordinating HRM functions within the Group of Schools,
  2. Promote equity, transparency and consistency in the interpretation, determination, implementation and administration of HR policy, procedures and guidelines on HR related matters in the institution.
  3. Support, implement and administer effective and timely recruitment processes in the hiring and retaining the best talents available to support the strategic human resources needs of the institution.
  4. Management of Occupational Health and Safety.
  5. Strategic Management of Human Resources & Non-Financial Support Functions
  6. Contribute to the development and implementation of new or revised policies and procedures and ensure that new policies are communicated.
  7. Identifying and anticipating organization and staff development needs and recommend intervention strategies.
  8. Carrying outline management training on HR issues as required.
  9. Act as an internal consultant for all line managers on staff disciplinary and grievance matters to pre-empt, as much as possible, disputes within the schools..
  10. Investigating complaints and advise and assist Principals in the resolution of discipline and grievance issues
  11. Overseeing the HR record management in the systems and physical files
  12. Approving payroll system and HR system amendments.
  13. Overseeing the preparation of HR reports on Headcount, costs and performance management.
  14. Evaluating and recommending improvements to employee benefits programs.
  15. Play a Key Role in the HR communication strategy to all staff.
  16. Play a key role in the maintenance of harmonious employee/employer relations and cordial working environment

Qualifications:

  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences/ Human Resource Management.
  • 3 years of recent work experience in a similar position in a School.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ progressive working experience in a busy HR environment. with sound cross-functional experience.
  • Extensive experience in multi-cultural and multi-site organizations.
  • Expertise in national labor laws, employment legislation & employment best practices.
  • Active membership with the Professional Personnel Institute.
