Our client, a flower farm that specializes in producing and exporting high-quality roses in a variety of colors to the European market is looking for a Human Resource Manager to undertake all roles related to Human Resources at our client’s premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring fair and consistent evaluations.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement plans to address underperformance.
  • Create strategies to enhance staff retention and motivation, focusing on employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and create workforce planning strategies.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace by ensuring equal opportunities in recruitment.
  • Identify training needs across the organization and develop comprehensive training programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate staff training sessions and workshops.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, keeping the company informed of any changes.
  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct regular audits of HR practices to ensure compliance and address any gaps.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor the HR team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Set clear objectives for HR team members and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for HR staff.
  • Undertake additional tasks related to farm operations as assigned, adapting HR strategies to meet specific needs.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Industrial Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in the agricultural sector.
  • Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices in Uganda.
  • Proven experience in performance management, recruitment, training, and employee relations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
