Who We Are

SPOUTS of Water LTD is a for-profit social business that manufactures and sells the Purifaaya™ ceramic water filters and distributes rocket stove technology. SPOUTS was created in Uganda in 2014 with the simple idea that ceramic water filters could be made and sold locally, providing an amazingly effective product through a sustainable business model. SPOUTS is currently the largest ceramic water filter manufacturer in Africa.

Since SPOUTS sold its first Purifaaya in 2015, it has distributed 130,000+ filters to East Africa providing over 650,000 end-users with long-term access to safe drinking water. SPOUTS is a rapidly-growing organization with over 500 employees across Uganda and Rwanda. The next step is to expand its operations throughout East, West and Southern Africa.

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for providing advice on talent related matters to ensure the organization’s actions are in compliance with the employment laws and statuses.

PURPOSE OF THE JOBTo provide advice on talent related matters to ensure the organisation’s actions are in compliance with the employment laws and statuses. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIESRESPONSIBILITIES UNIQUE TO THE ROLEResponsibility% Contribution to job’s performance

Forecast and execute recruitment strategies to ensure the right candidates with the right skills and competencies are enrolled as per the company's needs.20%

Analyse data and report to ensure accurate data is captured in the dashboard to aid strategic decision-making.5%

Lead employee lifecycle management, providing support and regularly reviewing the company's talent management processes, including performance/potential management, payroll & requisitions approvals, resource planning, and succession planning.20%

Lead the budgeting process for HR-related functions to ensure proper planning for cash flows15%

Support and guide the Uganda management team on company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Labor laws. 15%

Coordinate employee relations and engagements to enhance employee satisfaction.10%

Coordinate with the L&D officer in implementing learning & development programs.5%

Lead employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations to ensure compliance with Labor laws.5%

Any other roles added from time to time in relation to departmental objectives10%CONTRIBUTION TO STRATEGYTo promote excellence by aligning Talent strategy with the main company strategic goals REQUIREMENTS Education QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Work & Social Administration or any other related fieldThe following specialized Courses will be an added advantage:

  • HR Analytics Courses that teach how to use data to make informed HR decisions
  • Employment Law, Understanding legal aspects of employment
  • Diversity and Inclusion Training
  • Conflict Resolution training
  • Talent Management and Workforce Planning

SHRM Certified Professional is preferred Experience5 Years’ experience in a similar role.1+ Experience in HRIs and Talent Management systemsBusiness Understanding / KnowledgeStrong understanding of HR functions LanguagesProficiency in spoken and written English
