Job Summary

GOAL is seeking a passionate individual to work as Health Project Officer in Agago District to support the implementation of our health portfolio projects. This includes a demand driven approach to improving health outcomes and service utilisation, integrated approaches to improving maternal, child and new born health and nutrition and health-oriented emergency response.

Responsibilities

Health Portfolio Support

• Participate in project planning, including developing workplans, submitting funds requests, procurement of project supplies and equipment and development of activity budgets.
• Contribute to the development of health materials, including training curriculums and materials and guidance notes.
• Refine existing and/or develop as required, multisectoral IEC materials across health, nutrition, livelihoods, sanitation and hygiene sectors for use by health volunteers or health partners.
Project Implementation
• Support in delivering all project components and trainings (Citizen Report Cards, community dialogues, DHMT meetings, People Centered Advocacy (PCA), Social & Behavior Change)
• Support in preparing engagements for district health management team and health personnel (health workers, VHTs) to increase responsiveness of the supply side in addressing health concerns within the district.
• Assist in organizing initial meetings for VHTs, HUMCs and health workers in the priority health facilities within Agago District
• Assist in facilitating follow up dialogues to track actions of the community and health workers in the project sites
• Assist in preparing for barrier analysis and social investigations for the priority behaviors around health seeking practices in the target communities
• Take lead in following up community conversation sessions in the priority communities
• Support in implementing family MUAC approach in communities
• Assist in animating community PCA workshops for developing district advocacy strategies and lead delivery all four steps for developing district advocacy strategies.
• Assist in mentoring community advocates during the implementation of their district advocacy plan and monitoring plan in both pilot and rollout districts – mentoring support visits
Project monitoring, learning and documentation
• Participate in data collection, analysis and/or entry using CommCare and PowerBi
• Assist in documenting community successes and failures for project learning and reporting to other stakeholders
• Assist in collecting outcome harvesting stories taken from the implementation of community dialogues, DHMTs meetings, community conversations, people-centred advocacy activities etc
• Prepare periodical reports: update indicators, achievements, activities and results according to the project log frame
Networking, coordination and outreach
• Meet with community, sub-county, and district leaders to explain project objectives and keep them appraised of project(s) activities being implemented in the target area
• Work closely with community volunteers, local government representatives, VHTs, Health Assistants and other relevant sub-county and district stakeholders into the implementation of health portfolio projects.
• Assist in updating WDWW tool within the district focusing on health advocacy & accountability interventions that may influence the results of the project.

 

Job Requirements

Required education: Bachelor's degree
Required relevant work experience: 2 years
