Field of activity

The 'Better Migration Management II' project is entering its second phase and, as EU co-financing from the EU Trust Fund for Africa, is allocating € 30 million (EU funds) and € 5 million (funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ ) around. It is a regional project to be implemented in 8 countries of the Khartoum Process (Djibouti, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia and Uganda), with a strong focus on regional cooperation. GIZ is leading an implementation partnership with four other international organizations. Action will be taken in the areas of migration governance, effective institutions and protection of trafficking victims. The coordination of the project will be conducted from Brussels.

Your tasks

    • Preparation and implementation of country actions in Uganda in the
    • Phase in coordination with the coordination unit
    • Responsible for advising and managing the content and organization in Uganda in consultation with the person responsible for the order (AV)
    • Management of national and regional employees (in coordination with the GIZ country office)
  • Ensuring the planning, organization, management and monitoring of activities in Uganda, implemented by GIZ, as well as the packages of measures implemented by the other International Partners in Uganda
  • Responsible for the correct execution of the measures according to 'Processes and Rules' (PuR) as well as the requirements of the EU
  • Participation in the preparation and coordination of reports and opinions in Uganda to the two contracting authorities (BMZ and EU) as well as to the national counterpart

  • Completed studies, preferably migration, political, economic or social sciences, regional sciences, administrative sciences, law or comparable training in the field of police, border management, etc.
  • Many years of (implementation) experience in refugee work, protection for victims of trafficking, anti-trafficking, peace and security, labor migration
  • Several years of experience in managing complex development cooperation programs
  • Profound user knowledge of German Development Cooperation (DC) and GIZ procedures, as well as EU procedures
  • Several years of experience in policy consulting for regional and national partner organizations

In Kampala there is a tropical climate, however, due to the height of 1300 meters above sea level. M. is mitigated. As a provincial capital, Kampala has international schools and good hospitals. The medical care is sufficient for common health problems. Further medical treatments are possible in Nairobi / Kenya. The security situation is mostly good, but it can change due to political and social conflicts.
