About Organisation:

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for people with disability in Uganda (CoRSU) was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, nongovernmental organization and is supported by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as well as adults with disability.

 

Job Summary:    CoRSU Hospital is looking for competent and experienced Head of Programs and Partnerships to be based in Kisubi, Uganda

 

Position Overview

  • To oversee and coordinate organization’s program development, implementation, monitoring and reporting to ensure effective and efficient achievement of organization’s goals and strategic objectives.
  • To oversee and participate in the preparation of grant proposals for submission to prospective donors; develop and coordinate work plans to ensure the achievement of the strategic objectives, ensure compliance with donor terms and conditions, including high quality reporting.
  • To oversee Organization’s community-based programming through the Social Worker/CBID team and coordinate with Organization’s Partner Organisations to ensure achievement of mutual objectives in an effective and efficient manner.

 

Supervises: Program Management Team (comprised of Program Officers, Grants & Fundraising Officer, Documentation Officer, and M&E Officer) and Social Work Team.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure teamwork: Work closely and quickly establish excellent rapport and working relations amongst internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage pipeline of partners including identifying, prospecting, outreach, assessment, alignment, negotiations, and closure.
  • Create positive partner experiences driving excitement, alignment, and growth in the funding portfolio.
  • Work with the CEO to develop a partnership and funding strategy, and lead the Partnerships team to deliver it.
  • Align incentives for partners, structuring deals and negotiating contracts that satisfy both parties.
  • Build strong and lasting relations with new and existing partner organization.
  • Prepare timely reports as needed and ensure effective networking, collaboration and partnerships.
  • Work closely with Head of Finance to provide regular timely reporting to donors, partners and funding accountability made.
  • To oversee and coordinate the hospital program management office (PMO) through:
  • Effective supervision of the PMO team through the Team Leader.
  • Coordination and support of the hospital M&E activities in order to achieve their strategic objectives.
  • Lead resource mobilisation/fundraising activities, including development and submission of project proposals.
  • Manage organization’s strategic partners and ensure functional and mutual beneficial relationships.
  • Supervise the Grants and Fundraising Officer, ensuring that the Grants and Fundraising Officer prepares draft proposals, submits them to management for discussion and endorsement, corrections and submission to donors in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that the organization work plans are coordinated, monitored and implemented as per the strategic plan, project initiatives liaising closely with major donor/funding institutions and partners.
  • Advise management on how to apply for individual donations and accelerate funding from targeted local sources and providing  communication to potential donors sharing specific reports on local funding.
  • Provide effective supervision and performance evaluation of the functional teams given under this position.
  • Monitor and organize appropriate planning and M&E meetings/activities, as well as training based on the organization  CoRSU strategic plan so as to achieve the intended objectives.
  • Coordinate the activities of the Social Worker/CBID team and ensure that it provides relevant information and interventions to organization patients, attendants and/or caregivers as well as communities during CBID outreaches.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of partner relationships and engagements in delivering the hospital’s objectives.
  • Identify new opportunities for quality, high impact engagements with partners.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in Community Based Rehabilitation, Social Work and Social Administration, or Public Health is essential.
  • Advanced training in Project Management/Programs Management
  • Recognised training in proposal writing, Advocacy, leadership and community work
  • At least five (5) years’ program management experience at a senior level in a large organisation.
  • A proven track record of writing successful grants and funding proposals.
  • Excellent  communication, presentation and social skills.
  • A clear understanding of the workings of bi- lateral and multi-lateral institutional donors.

Desirable

  • A qualification in disability studies, community-based rehabilitation or Social work.
  • A post graduate qualification in leadership and management
  • M&E,  Project management, grants writing and/or  project management
  • Experience in working in the NGO/Not-for-Profit sector with proven track record.
  • Flexible and culturally sensitive with team building and networking skills.
  • High ethical and moral standards with good understanding of disability.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment.
