Job Description

We are  seeking to hire a young vibrant and  creative Head of Fundraising & Marketing to lead and coordinate recruitment,

selection and matriculation of passionate talented university graduates and professionals into our educational fellowships. This role is central to our strategy and growth as an organization and therefore this individual will be responsible for steering the recruitment process from conceptualization,

strategy to execution. He/she will also engage a wide range of stakeholders that include  universities, corporates and non-profits, with the goal of expanding outreach, building partnerships, and raising awareness of the education crisis in Uganda and the role that all

citizens can play in solving it.

We are looking for someone to lead and coordinate our marketing strategy and project manage our fundraising appeals as an integral part of our management team. The successful candidate will champion the development of our brand and be responsible for using a range of Direct Marketing

techniques to grow our supporter base and to recruit and retain donors, in order to maximise income. We are looking for someone with experience who is creative and entrepreneurial as well as collaborative and excellent at managing relationships both internal and external. The role requires

someone who is a strong team player to join our prize-winning team. You will be passionate about keeping up to date with sector trends and have solid knowledge of best practice and the importance of organisational reputation. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about the education sector and the role citizens  play in developing it.

build a movement of diverse and capable leaders who will end education inequity in our country. We recruit, train and place top university graduates and young professionals in high need primary schools across Uganda to serve as full-time teachers committed to transforming the education outcomes of less-privileged children through significantly improving their achievements and aspirations in a 2-year teaching fellowship.

As a valued member of the management team your main responsibilities will;

Design a recruitment and selection strategy (30%)

● Develop and execute a great recruitment and selection plan that is focused on targeting the most promising leaders of our country to join the fellowship.

● Set ambitious goals for overall recruitment and matriculation cycle that are aligned with our mission and vision, in coordination with the Head of Programs

● Design an action plan on how to achieve the goals

● Identify and attract passionate talented university graduates and young professionals to join and commit to a two-year teaching as leadership fellowship.

● Meet promising high potential candidates one-on-one to get them invested into our organization and to better understand how their career aspirations might fit into our work.

● Go out to universities and other youth events to inform and inspire talented young graduates and professionals and get them to apply for the fellowship.

● Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure all selected applicants join and

complete fellowship

Develop a compelling marketing and branding strategy (20%)

● Conduct a targeted market research each year to understand motivations of prospective applicants

● Develop and execute marketing and communication campaigns centered around key themes/messaging that appeal to university graduates and professionals.

● Create awareness of the fellowship program through marketing channels such as print, social media, radio and television.

● Contribute to building a strong brand

Build partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders (30%)

● Research top targeted universities to understand their structure and operation

● Build relationships with university chancellors, heads of key departments, Deans, Professors, career service heads and student bodies to get them invested in the recruitment campaign

● Build partnerships with corporate companies and non-profits to create awareness of the  fellowship and eventually for fundraising purposes.

● Conduct information sessions and presentations on campus, in meetings and events; communicate effectively and articulate Teach For Uganda’s vision, mission and the fellowship benefits and value addition.

● Represent the organization at conferences, professional associations, recruiting events, Universities, etc. with the focus of expanding the talent pipeline

 

 Develop and project manage the charity fundraising appeals and other sources of income by recruiting and retaining donors

 Design and deliver marketing activities that support the fellowship,  including donor communications

 Coordinate activity strands including website, media, marketing of the charity as a whole and our products to ensure effective promotion of our Brand and key communications

 Coordinate and analyse audience research and supporter databases to maximise charity reach and to monitor successful outcomes

Essential Requirements:

 Experience in leading on the strategic direction of a marketing plan to donor and public audiences

including creating and managing operational plans

 Management or experience of delivery of a range of appeals from inception to delivery and successful working to deadlines

 Proven track record in championing brands, writing and managing creative briefs for campaigns

 Experience in designing creative marketing plans and activities that deliver on campaign and/or fundraising objectives, with a limited budget, across media platforms

 Design and analysis of market research; ability to apply insight to inform marketing activities

 Marketing experience within cross-organisational project teams

 Ability to build positive relationships, connect with and manage a wide range of stakeholders including corporate sponsors, scientists, campaign partners.

 Good track record in using IT, database and web skills

 A full clean driving licence

Desirable

 Confident Spokesperson

 Experience of epilepsy, bereavement or a related field
