JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the Role:
The Head of Operations will play a key role as a member of the Company’s executive team, responsible for operational efficiencies to ensure a competitive advantage for the Company. The role will provide decision support on operational matters to the Managing Director.
The role holder is also responsible for upholding best practices in underwriting and claims management and arranging optimal reinsurance programs for the business.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop the company’s Operations Strategy to align with corporate goals and ensure effectiveness in delivery.
• Review the Operations Strategy periodically to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in processes and resource utilization.

• Oversee core operational functions, including Underwriting, Claims, General Administration, Product Administration, Customer Service, and Premium Processing.
• Ensure accurate and timely application of all funds received in the company to appropriate accounts, leveraging electronic funds collection tools such as mobile telephony for greater efficiency.

• Establish standards and interdepartmental service agreements to improve the company’s service ratings and foster seamless collaboration across teams.

• Enhance operational efficiency across the company, ensuring all resources and processes are optimized.

• Set and monitor Operational Budgets to align with the strategic objectives of the company.
• Ensure that underwriting policies and claims policies reflect the Company’s strategic risk management framework and are adhered to at all times.
• Guarantee exceptional service to customers and producers, ensuring that their expectations are consistently met.

• Ensure cost-effective procurement practices, adhering to the Company’s policy and professional standards.
• Support the Company’s strategic plan by maintaining a reliable Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
• Foster staff motivation and development through appropriate staffing levels, performance management, and training programs.

Required Qualifications:
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, Law, or a related discipline from a reputable university.
• A master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Professional qualification(s) in insurance, such as ACII, FCII, or equivalent.
Experience:
• A minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in General Insurance underwriting and/or claims management.
• Proven exposure to reinsurance treaty arrangements and related fields.
