Job Summary: 

The Head of Guarding is responsible for the direction and control of all commercial and operational aspects of the Guarding Business Unit to ensure efficient delivery and service to all internal and external customers. The position ensures the highest level of customer satisfaction whilst achieving organic growth and financial success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Head and manage the Guarding Unit commercially and operationally to maximize profitability whilst ensuring quality, performance improvement, and customer service delivery.
  • Lead in the development of the unit’s budgets and strategies to achieve revenue growth plans. Lead and monitor the implementation of approved budgets and plans.
  • Work under direction from the Head of Security Operations and maintain commercial and service delivery responsibility for each operational branch and region.
  • Develop organizational arrangements, systems, and processes to enable the efficient and effective deployment of resources in line with internal policies, procedures and standards.
  • Responsible for close control and management of sub-contractor accreditation, quality, costs, and performance.
  • Line Management, supervision, and support of the individual Operations Managers, to ensure alignment to ensure cost management and client and internal KPIs are achieved and maintained.
  • Manage client relations by giving regular updates and convening meetings to ensure compliance with service delivery expectations.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the various operational management and branch teams. Manage staff capacity and skill levels within the department to meet current and planned outputs; build and maintain talent infrastructure and employee development by assessing capability, identifying gaps, and designing training programs.
  • Develop and motivate Operations Managers and wider teams, fostering a high level of cooperation with other managers.
  • Work within the management team in the development and achievement of collective goals with fellow managers and support functions.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with key customers/stakeholders ensuring the highest quality customer relationship management of the contracts.
  • Develop and deliver robust internal and external performance reports. Contribute to the development and delivery of accurate management reports to the Managing Director.
  • Facilitate the internal audit process and be responsible for implementing the ensuing action plans for the Guarding business unit.
  • Mobilise new contract wins ensuring a full and accurate understanding of contract pricing mechanisms.
  • Ensure all operational KPIs are met by management and supervisory teams, contribute to management and supervisory performance annual and midyear reviews.
  • Provide logistical support and on occasion guidance to the guarding project teams.
  • Deputize Head of Security Operations on Guarding matters.
  • Ensure the Guarding business meets all requirements of the BMS and GWI operational standards.

  • Formulation and effective implementation of Business Strategies
  • Efficient management of the Guarding business unit
  • Operations efficiency and cost reduction by the set parameter.
  • Technical and operational excellence by building a quality, cost-driven business unit
  • Highly motivated operations staff with clear roles and responsibilities within the Business Unit, who adhere to annual outlined KPIs

Accountability:

The Head of Guarding is accountable to the Country Head of Security Operations for the responsibilities stated in this job description. These responsibilities will be monitored and managed through the mid-year and annual performance review and supported through the monitoring of KPIs.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in security management or an operational risk field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ Security service experience with at least 3 years in a senior position in the services industry.
  • Technical understanding of commercial security.
  • Experience in developing individuals and fostering their career advancement including suitable coaching and mentoring abilities.
  • Proficiency in ICT.
