JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
The Head of Credit will manage the overall credit function of the bank, focusing on credit assessments, restructuring, monitoring, and recovery, ensuring alignment with the bank's overall strategy and objectives. This role aims to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement credit strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Propose changes to product profiles and procedures to improve profitability and reduce risks.
• Recommend credit risk appetite for Board Credit Committee approval.
• Monitor credit models to ensure alignment with approved risk appetite limits.
• Diversify credit portfolios across sectors to minimize concentration risk.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, regulatory guidelines, and approval terms.
• Establish credit policies and procedures and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
• Manage counterparty risks, ensuring proper evaluation and mitigation.
• Review and escalate adverse credit exposures for action by stakeholders.
• Deliver insights to stakeholders such as the Board, Management, and customers.
• Enhance credit reporting and monitoring frameworks to meet requirements.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Provide leadership to the Credit team.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Master’s degree in business, finance, or management is an advantage).
• At least 8 years of experience in a financial institution in credit-related functions, with 5 years in a managerial role.
• Exposure to both corporate and retail lending is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements for corporate governance, business, and banking operations.
• Ability to formulate and execute strategies and manage risks.
• Proficiency in lending terms, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Capacity to build and sustain customer relationships.
