Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To lead, manage and deliver an integrated and independent Risk Management Function in order to enable the Africa Regions country to seize opportunities in pursuit of growth, by managing Non-Financial Risks in a manner that balances the interests of clients and other stakeholders, while protecting the safety and soundness of the Enterprise, ensuring the ethical standards are adhered to and maintained. To provide assurance on the control and risk status for the Country.
  • Build closer alignment between risk and financial planning to ensure sustainable growth and profitability and enable sound business decisions that result in gains. Control and manage the Non Financial Risk portfolio to ensure the country is better equipped to identify and quantify potential risks and mitigate them effectively.
  • Contribute to the design and drive the implementation of the Risk Management Function’s specific Operating Model, capabilities, policies, processes, standards, regulations, core technologies / digital platforms, functional structures, supporting standard job descriptions and skill requirements based on Human Capital standards within a specific Africa Regions country.
  • Develop and implement the Risk Management People plan within the Non-Financial Risk Function with support from the Human Capital Function. Identify current and potential employee skill requirements in consultation with the Human Capital Function and drive the development of people within the Non-Financial Risk Function.
  • Drive a risk culture of transparency, accountability and consistency by using risk knowledge to support responsible decision-making within the Africa Regions country. Drive the adoption of technology within the Non-Financial Risk Management Function within the Africa Regions country to ensure the use of the appropriate technology and correct behavioural principles for use of technology within the Non-Financial Risk Management Function. Monitor adherence to relevant technology policies and standards.
  • Engage proactively with stakeholders and the environment at large to understand and manage non-financial risks within the specific Africa Regions country. Lead and control non-financial risk management to ensure the country is prepared to withstand the test of any current and future non-financial risks by influencing the relevant stakeholders. Champions the culture of a responsible risk-taking organisation without compromising the future.
  • Monitor and control the implementation of the Group Non-Financial Risk Management Framework and develop risk mitigation plans for the AR country and govern the development and monitoring of risk and exposure models and risk mitigation activities in line with risk appetite.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

 
  • First Degree in Business Commerce, Risk Management or related from a recognised institution.
  • Masters Degree in Finance and Accounting or Risk Management is prefered
  • The role requires a seasoned leader with more than 10 years experience in Risk Management and business with profound knowledge of the full dimensions of the field but specific focus on non-financial risks.
  • Regulatory environment savvy, a proven track record in large scale and high-level leadership and capable of influencing seasoned leaders as well as employees and regulators. As an influential leader has the capacity to manoeuvre through the landscape of relevant decision makers in industry and drive change.
