About the job

  • Grant Research and Identification: Conducting research to identify potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's mission, programs, and funding needs. This involves staying updated on grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources.
  • Grant Proposal Development: Collaborating with program staff and leadership to develop compelling grant proposals, including writing narrative sections, creating budgets, and assembling supporting documentation. Grants Managers ensure that proposals are tailored to meet the specific requirements and priorities of each funding opportunity.
  • Grant Submission and Management: Managing the grant application and submission process, including ensuring that all required documents and forms are completed accurately and submitted by the deadline. After securing grants, Grants Managers oversee the implementation of grant-funded programs, ensuring compliance with grant terms and reporting requirements.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivating relationships with grant-making organizations, funders, and donors to understand their funding priorities, requirements, and expectations. This may involve attending meetings, conferences, and networking events to establish and maintain connections within the funding community.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management: Collaborating with finance staff to develop accurate budgets for grant proposals and ensuring that grant expenditures are tracked and reported in accordance with grant agreements and financial regulations. Grants Managers may also be responsible for preparing financial reports for funders and monitoring grant spending to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensuring compliance with grant agreements, regulations, and reporting requirements. This includes monitoring grant milestones and deadlines, preparing and submitting progress reports, and coordinating with program staff to gather data and documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Grant Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitoring grant-funded programs to assess progress, outcomes, and impact. Grants Managers work with program staff to develop and implement evaluation plans, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports to demonstrate the effectiveness of grant-funded activities.
  • Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building: Providing training, guidance, and support to staff members involved in grant development, management, and reporting. Grants Managers may also share knowledge and best practices with other organizations and stakeholders to build capacity within the nonprofit sector.
