JOB DETAILS:
B1. Overall Purpose of the Job
The Fleet Monitoring Officer is responsible for tracking and monitoring the company's fleet daily, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with company regulations. This includes operating GPS systems, maintaining databases, and supporting transport operations.
B2. Roles & Responsibilities
1. Fleet Monitoring and Reporting:
o Monitor the movement of all company trucks and prepare daily movement reports.
o Track driver performance and ensure strict compliance with company rules and regulations.
2. GPS System Management:
o Operate and maintain GPS systems for effective fleet tracking.
o Geofence territories to ensure trucks operate within designated boundaries.
3. Database Maintenance:
o Maintain and update the systems database of vehicles, drivers, and turnboys.
o Ensure accuracy and availability of data for analysis and reporting.
4. Compliance and Safety Monitoring:
o Monitor diesel theft and over-speeding incidents.
o Ensure drivers adhere to company policies and road safety standards.
5. Customer and Team Support:
o Provide customer service to clients as needed.
o Assist the Transport Coordinator with daily duties and perform the Coordinator’s roles in their absence.
6. Technical Troubleshooting:
o Handle GPS device installation, configuration, and maintenance.
o Troubleshoot electronic hardware and resolve GPS hardware or software issues.
7. Analysis and Reporting:
o Interpret GPS data to identify patterns or trends.
o Write detailed reports or documentation on fleet performance, system functionality, and compliance.
C. Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience
C1. Education:
• Diploma or certification in Computers, Electronics, or a related field.
C2. Experience, Skills, and Competencies:
• Technical Skills:
o Installation and configuration of GPS devices.
o Familiarity with automotive systems for vehicle trackers.
o Basic troubleshooting of electronic hardware and software issues.
o Understanding of GPS software platforms and mobile networks (2G/3G/4G/5G).
o Basic programming knowledge (e.g., Java) for customizing tracker features.
o Knowledge of wireless communication basics.
• Soft Skills:
o Ability to explain technical details to non-technical users.
o Strong analytical skills for identifying patterns or trends in GPS data.
o Report writing and documentation skills.
