Job Description
Job Title: General Manager
Location: Nakaseke District, Uganda
Contract: 2 year (renewable)
Start: April 1st, 2020
We are a chicken Layer farm Located in Nakaseke district and a leading supplier of a quality eggs. As we embark on our next expansion phase we are seeking to recruit a General Manager with a background in chicken farming and strong analytical and communication skills.
The Overall Roles of the position are
(a) Lead the transformation and development of the farm into sustainable and profitable business that improves the economic and social wellbeing of all stakeholders.
(b) Provide leadership and management for the Staff to ensure that they have the tools, knowledge and motivation to do their job as best they can.
(c) Develop and recommend strategies to the BOD that ensure that the farm meets its objectives and targets to optimize the long-term success of the business.
(d) Act as the farms’s primary public relations focal point to ensure that the business develops into a into a premier egg brand.
(e) Build up the farms product portfolio across the value chain beyond the premier egg products that have until now been the mainstay of the business.
(f) Develop relevant stakeholder relations across the chicken value chain including smallholder farmers, community leaders, women’s groups, clients, regulatory authorities etc.
(g) Have overall responsibility for the farms statutory and board reporting obligations, including but not limited to annual financial and tax reporting.
(h) Authorize commitment of corporate resources in line with the farm’s corporate strategy, plans and objectives as defined in the company’s authorization authority Matrix.
(i) Invite Board meetings, prepare agenda and materials for the meetings and act at the secretary to the Board.
(j) Perform any other duties within the scope of the position, which from time to time may be delegated by the Board of Directors.
Key Requirements:
(a) Masters in Agribusiness, Business Administration or related field.
(b) Minimum 3 years of related professional experience
(c) Excellent analytical skills at a strategic, operation and financial level.
(d) Excellent people skills and emotional intelligence, able to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds;
(e) An open and straight attitude, Informing the Board immediately about any incident that may have impact on our business and encourages the whole staff for the same spirit of openness
(f) Strong client service orientation with openness to feedback and new ideas
(g) Willingness to move to Nakaseke and travel regularly at short notice
