JOB DETAILS:
The Geared for Success (GFS) project is a collaborative initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), led by War Child Canada (WCC) and Oxfam in partnership with six community-based organizations (CBOs) across South Sudan and Uganda. This project aims to enhance equitable and inclusive learning outcomes for refugee, internally displaced, and host community children and youth, with a particular focus on girls and adolescent girls.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and committed Gender Officer to join our team at the Refugee-Led Organization Network (RELON). The Gender Officer will play a key role in implementing the gender-responsive mandates of the GFS project, ensuring that the voices and needs of women and girls are central to all project activities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) and CBOs to promote gender-
responsive education initiatives that empower girls and adolescent girls, ensuring equitable
access to educational resources.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate the performanAbout the Project:ce of RLOs, and CBOs in delivering gender-bresponsive education and recommend improvements.
• Facilitate training and capacity-building workshops focused on women’s leadership and
advocacy for the right to education.
• Support the development and implementation of strategies that encourage collective action
among RLOs and CBOs to advance gender-responsive education.

• Engage with community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to promote awareness
and understanding of gender issues in education
• Assist the M&E team in monitoring and evaluating project progress through a gender lens
by utilizing project monitoring tools and contributing to reporting requirements.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of gender equality and women’s rights issues, particularly in the context of education and displacement.

• Proven experience working with Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) and community-

based organizations (CBOs) and implementing gender-responsive programs.
• Proven experience working in emergency humanitarian settings.

• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage various stakeholders
effectively.
• Capacity to work in complex and challenging environments, with a strong commitment to
the project’s goals and outcomes.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages spoken by refugees hosted in Yumbe,
Terego, and Obongi is an asset.
