Our Client is a leading automotive service provider specializing in vehicle repairs, maintenance, and dealership services. Job Purpose.
To lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the organization by implementing strategic plans, improving operational efficiency, and driving the business toward sustainable growth. The General Manager will be responsible for restructuring operational processes, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and spearheading recruitment efforts as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Development
• Develop and execute the company's long-term strategy with a focus on achieving business growth and operational efficiency.
• Assess the current organizational structure and recommend changes or improvements to better align with company objectives.

 

 

• Regularly report to the Executive Director on progress, challenges, and future growth strategies.

Operations Management
• Oversee daily operations, with a focus on administration, technical support, and customer service.
• Set up and restructure an efficient operational system for managing repairs, maintenance, and dealership services.

 

 

• Ensure proper supervision of teams, especially for upcountry operations, where technicians currently operate without direct oversight.
• Implement or enhance processes and systems, including QuickBooks, to support operational needs.

Recruitment and Talent Management
• Evaluate the current workforce and recommend whether to develop existing employees or recruit new talent to meet business goals.
• Manage recruitment and HR-related activities, including the possibility of establishing an HR department if necessary.

 

 

• Ensure that semi-skilled staff are up-skilled or certified to improve the company’s service offerings.

Health and Safety Compliance
• Develop and enforce company-wide health and safety policies and ensure all employees comply with these standards, especially in technical departments.
• Conduct regular safety audits and ensure upcountry teams are equipped with the necessary resources and support to maintain safety standards.

Business Development and Competitiveness
• Lead efforts to outcompete rivals by introducing a more structured and professional approach to operations.
• Identify market opportunities in the automotive industry and propose ways to capitalize on them.

 

 

• Explore partnerships and dealership opportunities to expand the company's offerings (e.g., in fuel, spare parts, or lubricants).

Financial Management
• Collaborate with the finance department to develop and monitor budgets, financial targets, and performance metrics.
• Implement cost control measures and strategies to maximize profitability and reduce operational inefficiencies.

Team Leadership
• Provide leadership and direction to the 28 staff members.
• Ensure effective communication across departments and maintain a collaborative working environment.

 

 

• Monitor and improve the performance of the semi-skilled technical staff, particularly those involved in upcountry operations.

Preferred Candidate Profile:
Experience:
• At least minimum 5 years with 3 years working as on a supervisory level of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, preferably in areas such as car dealership, fuel/lubricants, spare parts, or vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Proven experience in managing teams, improving operations, and developing strategic plans for growing businesses.

 

 

• Experience working with semi-skilled teams, particularly in technical or mechanical roles.

Education, Skills and Qualifications
• A degree in business management, automotive engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential. Practical experience is prioritized for this role.
• Successfully restructured and implemented new processes or systems within at least one company.
• Background in the automotive industry (currently working or previously worked).

 

 

• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
• Familiarity with financial management and budgeting, particularly in operational environments.
• Knowledge of safety standards and compliance in the automotive industry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A hands-on approach to leadership, focusing more on practical experience than formal education.
• Flexibility to travel upcountry as needed to supervise operations in other locations.
• A results-driven mindset with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
