The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit making NGO with Country Program Offices in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Niger, Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. AIRD’s objective is to offer operational support, including but not limited to supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods and WASH in partnership with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected and development-oriented areas. AIRD delivers for and through partners including but not limited to UN Agencies, international and national donor organizations and governments
Job Summary: The objective of this post is managing the distribution of fuel at a fueling station or depot. The role involves ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of fuel to customers or vehicles.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage vehicle transportation methods (e.g., truck, bus, Light Vehicle, motorcycle) and ensure efficient delivery processes.
- Monitor fleet utilization and vehicle maintenance schedules.
- Ensure fuel is dispensed accurately, with precise measurement to prevent over-dispensing or under-dispensing, thereby maintaining customer satisfaction and minimizing financial discrepancies.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including proper handling of fuel, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to fire safety regulations, to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Provide courteous, prompt, and efficient service to customers (Donor, Partners), addressing any inquiries or issues they may have and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Monitor fuel levels in storage tanks and keep accurate records of fuel dispensed, coordinating with management to ensure timely reordering and preventing stock outs.
- Regularly inspect and maintain fuel dispensing equipment, such as pumps and nozzles, to ensure they are in good working condition and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Manage fuel dispensing transactions accurately, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly, and reconcile daily dispensing reports with actual fuel dispensed.
- Follow environmental guidelines and protocols for fuel handling and storage to minimize spills and prevent contamination, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
- Maximize efficiency in the fueling process to reduce customer (donor, partners) wait times and increase the number of vehicles serviced during a shift.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics and procurement management, supply chain, or any other related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in fuel distribution and management.
